Crime in West Ridge fell sharply in April—143 incidents, down from 280 the month before. Violent offenses dropped 39%. At the same time, construction permit value cratered 74%, from $4.7 million to $1.2 million, though permit count only dipped from 36 to 30. Express permits accounted for most of the activity. New businesses included Safari Somali Cuisine, Ruman Chai Shai & Restaurant, and Domino's Pizza, plus Yasini Jewelers on Devon. Service requests ticked up 3%, led by 263 pothole complaints and 142 tree emergencies. One food inspection failure.
