Washington Park gets Church's Chicken, violent crime up 46%
Washington Park issued 13 permits in June, totaling just under $3 million—up 27% in value from May. New construction accounted for eight of those permits. Eight businesses opened, including Church's Chicken #1142 and DR Market. Violent crime jumped 46%, from 79 incidents to 115, while overall crime rose 31%. Service requests climbed 35%, led by 65 tree trim requests in a category the city no longer accepts. Street light complaints and tree emergencies followed. Food inspection failures dropped from three to one.
