Washington Heights permit value jumps to $5.9 million
Washington Heights issued 35 permits in July worth $5.9 million, up from $1.2 million the month before. Most of the work came through the express permit program (27 permits). Tree-related 311 requests dominated service calls—180 planting requests, 142 for debris cleanup, 106 emergencies—pushing the total to 1,385, a 22% rise from June. Violent crime dropped by a fifth (70 incidents vs. 90), though overall crime held steady at 258. Three restaurants failed inspections, up from one.
