South Shore logged 577 crimes in February, up 57% from January. Violent offenses climbed 67%—212 incidents. Service requests jumped 31% to 1,167, led by 219 tree-trim calls to a system that no longer accepts them. Permits totaled $1.03 million across 31 jobs, a third more than the previous month. Twelve businesses opened, including JR's Jamaican Tropical Cafe and Watta-Potato by Yogis Bistro.
