South Shore permit value drops 35% to $1.65M
South Shore's permit value fell from $2.5 million to $1.65 million in June, even as the number of permits barely budged (35 vs. 34). Most of the activity was express permits—22 of the 35—with another 11 for renovations. Service requests dropped 12%, led by 100 building violation reports and 91 information-only calls. Crime ticked down 3% overall. Food inspection failures were cut in half, from six to three. No new businesses or closures showed up in the data.
