Permit value in South Lawndale fell nearly half in October, down to $1.1 million from $2.2 million the month before. The neighborhood processed 24 permits, two fewer than September, with 15 coming through the express program. Residents filed 1,571 service requests, a drop of 265 from the prior month. Graffiti removal led the way with 338 calls, followed by 215 tree trim requests. Crime fell 13 percent to 356 incidents, with violent offenses down 16 percent to 161. Ten food establishments failed inspection, up from four.
