South Chicago permit value craters 99.5% after big October
Permit value in South Chicago fell from $100.9 million in October to $525,000 in November, a 99.5% drop suggesting last month featured one or more major projects that didn't repeat. The 20 permits pulled this month included 15 through the express program. On the streets, 311 calls dipped 7.3% to 736, led by 52 abandoned vehicle complaints. Crime dropped nearly 20%, from 320 incidents to 257, with violent offenses down slightly to 98. Two food establishments failed inspection, same as the month before.
