South Chicago pulls 22 express permits in July
South Chicago issued 27 permits in July, up 29% from June, but their combined value dropped 33% to $987k. Twenty-two were express permits, which tend to be smaller projects. Service requests rose 10% to 1,454, led by tree debris cleanup (127) and garbage cart issues (124). Violent crime fell 13% to 113 incidents even as overall crime edged up 8%. Four food establishments failed inspections, double June's tally.
