Roseland issued 43 permits in August, down from 74 the month before. Permit value fell 37 percent to $1.8 million. Express permits made up most of the activity—30 of the 43—while six wrecking or demolition permits were filed. Service requests ticked up slightly to 2,016, led by 181 calls about water in basements. Tree debris cleanup and garbage cart issues rounded out the top three. Crime dipped two percent to 483 incidents. Food inspection failures jumped from two to seven.
