Roseland service requests jump 30%, led by tree trimming
Roseland logged 1,423 service requests in January, up 30% from December. Tree trim requests led the way with 165 calls, followed by 126 shared-cost sidewalk requests and 109 streetlight complaints. Crime rose 16% to 476 incidents, with violent offenses up 9% to 143. Building permits climbed to 30 from 27, but total permit value fell 65% to $796,000. Twenty of the permits came through the express program. Food inspection failures jumped to 8 from 1. No new businesses registered or closed during the month.
