Portage Park's permit value shot up 351% in April, hitting $7.4 million compared to $1.6 million the month before. The 46 permits issued included 30 through the Express Permit Program and 10 for renovation or alteration work. New businesses opened that month: Miska Liquors (which got three licenses—package goods, tobacco, and tavern), Pintaito Gourmet, Saravale Meat Market, and North Side Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Crime dropped 39%, from 229 incidents to 140. Potholes led 311 complaints with 291 reports, followed by 180 requests for garbage cart maintenance. Food inspection failures fell from eight to two.
