Permit value in Portage Park jumped 97.5% in April, hitting $2.7 million compared to $1.4 million the month before. The 42 permits issued included 31 through the express program, eight renovations, and two new construction jobs. Potholes led 311 requests at 247, followed by tree trim calls (167) and garbage cart issues (137). Violent crime dropped 34.7%, falling from 75 incidents to 49. Food inspection failures more than doubled, going from three to seven. Total crime was down nearly 14%.
