Oakland permit value drops 76% despite more filings
Oakland pulled five permits in May, up from two in April, but their combined value fell to $50,612 from $207,500. Four of the five came through the express program. Abandoned vehicle complaints led 311 requests with 19 calls, followed by 10 pothole reports. Crime ticked up slightly—69 incidents versus 63 the month before—while violent offenses held nearly steady at 23. No new business licenses or closures showed up on city records.
