Oakland's violent crime jumps 25% to 30 incidents
Violent crime in Oakland climbed from 24 incidents in April to 30 in May, a 25% increase, while overall crime ticked up to 75 cases. Service requests dropped sharply—down 41% to 188—largely because the city stopped accepting tree trim requests, which had accounted for 50 of May's calls. Two permits totaling about $27,000 came through, up 17% in value from April's $23,000. No businesses opened or closed.
