North Lawndale's 311 calls jump 49% on tree emergencies
Service requests spiked from 1,171 to 1,741 in July, driven by 190 tree emergencies and 153 tree debris clean-up calls. Street lights out and graffiti removal also drew triple-digit complaint counts. Permits dropped 15% to 39, but the bigger fall was dollar value—down 68% to $2.8 million after June's $8.8 million. Most of July's permits were express program pulls (25) or small renovations. Crime ticked up 6% to 615 incidents, with violent offenses rising at roughly the same rate. One food inspection failure, down from three the month before.
