North Lawndale's building permits surged to $8.8 million in June, up 241% from May's $2.6 million. The neighborhood issued 46 permits, 35% more than the previous month. Thirty-three were filed under the city's express permit program, which handles straightforward residential and commercial work. Four renovation permits and three new construction permits rounded out the activity. No new businesses registered, and no business closures were recorded.
