New City permits drop to 22, mostly express work
July brought 22 permits worth $2.4 million—down from 63 and $9.8 million the month before. Sixteen were express permits; five were renovations; one was demo. Service requests jumped 14% to 1,947, led by 211 complaints about open hydrants—a summer spike that outpaced the usual rodent calls (172) and graffiti reports (148). Violent crime fell 18% to 117 incidents. Five restaurants failed inspections, up from three.
