New City 311 calls drop 20%, graffiti tops list
New City logged 1,481 service requests in September, down a fifth from August. Graffiti removal led with 188 calls, followed by 138 for broken streetlights and 105 for garbage cart issues. Permit activity stayed flat at 29, though total value slipped 15% to $2.7 million. Express permits made up the bulk of the work. Crime dropped slightly to 349 incidents, but violent offenses ticked up by three to 140. Food inspection failures fell sharply, from six to two.
