Permit value on the Near West Side fell from $82M in October to $23M in November, a 72% drop. The count also slipped, from 127 permits to 113. Express permits accounted for more than half the activity—61 of the month's total—followed by 32 renovation or alteration permits. Four new construction permits came through, along with four for elevator equipment and a dozen for signs. No new business licenses or closures were recorded.
