Loop permit value jumps to $718 million
The Loop logged $718 million in permitted construction value in March, up 984 percent from February's $66 million. The 201 permits included 134 through the express program and 38 for renovation or alteration work. New businesses doubled to 195, among them Shaily's Rasoi, a retail food spot, and The Tailor Shop. Violent crime climbed 36 percent to 179 incidents. Graffiti removal led service requests with 238 calls, followed by pothole complaints at 157. Food inspection critical failures fell 62 percent to eight.
