Violent crime in the Loop climbed 34% in June—186 incidents versus 139 the prior month—while overall crime rose 17%. Permit values dropped 39%, from $163 million to $99 million, though the neighborhood still issued 215 permits (down 12%). Most were express permits, typically smaller jobs. Graffiti removal requests led 311 calls at 437, more than four times the second-place category. Food inspection failures edged up from 18 to 24.
