Kenwood adds nine businesses, crime incidents jump 32%
Kenwood issued nine new business licenses in March, including Bronzeville Food Mart, Call & Response Books, and Hyde Park Nails Salon. That's up from one the month before. Reported crime incidents hit 172, a 32% jump from February's 130. Violent offenses rose from 37 to 48. Permits dropped to 13 from 22, and total construction value fell 57% to $6.5 million. Residents filed 270 service requests, led by 31 pothole complaints. No food establishments failed inspections.
