Hyde Park 311 calls jump 38% on traffic signals and tree requests
Service requests spiked to 614 in March, up from 446 the month before. Traffic signal complaints (85) and tree trim requests (96) accounted for most of the surge. Ten new businesses opened, including 24 Karat Bakery as a shared kitchen tenant and a Garrett Popcorn Shops location. Permit counts nudged up slightly to 29, but total dollar value dropped 56% to just under $3 million — the bulk of that was express permits for smaller jobs. Crime fell 9%, with 212 incidents. Two food establishments failed inspections.
