Hyde Park adds 87 new business licenses in July
New business licenses in Hyde Park jumped from 18 to 87 in July, a nearly five-fold increase. Among them: Nova Driving School, La Boulangerie & Co (which added an outdoor patio and liquor service), and Portal Innovations 53rd Street Labs. Permit activity fell sharply—just 20 permits filed compared to 38 the month before—and total construction value dropped by half to $3.4 million. Violent crime climbed 35 percent (66 incidents, up from 49), while overall crime fell 14 percent. Service requests rose 13 percent, led by 44 tree emergencies and 40 water lead test kit requests. Five restaurants failed inspections, up from one.
