Grand Boulevard permit count drops by half in December
Fifteen permits were issued in December, down from 31 the month before. Their combined value fell 38 percent to $1.9 million. Eight went through the express program; three covered new construction. Service requests jumped 27 percent to 808, led by 311 tree-trim filings under a category the city stopped accepting. Another 73 called for ice and snow removal. Crime rose 8.5 percent to 280 incidents, with violent offenses up slightly to 79. No businesses opened or closed. Two food establishments failed inspections.
