Douglas permit value jumps to $11.3M
Douglas logged $11.3 million in permitted construction in April, up nearly 470% from March's $2 million. The 17 permits included three for new construction and three for renovation work. Nine new businesses opened, among them Bronzeville Hoagie & Panini, John + Pat Anderson's Cafe, and an Infiniti dealership. Crime dropped sharply—121 incidents versus 223 the month before, with violent offenses down 46% to 37. Residents filed 347 service requests, led by 87 for tree trimming (a category the city no longer accepts). No food inspections failed.
