Chicago Lawn crime falls 30%, tree complaints pile up
Crime in Chicago Lawn dropped to 224 incidents in April, down from 321 the month before—a 30% slide that included 91 violent offenses, 18 fewer than March. Meanwhile, 473 service requests asked for tree trimming through a program that's no longer accepting calls, leading all 311 categories. Ten new businesses opened, including Verminator Pest Eliminator and Shop Rite Food & Dollar, which took out tobacco and food licenses. Permit value fell by half to $560k on 27 permits, and three food inspections came back failed.
