Chatham permit value drops 78% to $203k
Permit activity fell sharply in November—25 permits worth $203k, down from 40 and $921k the month prior. Twenty of those permits came through the express program. No new businesses opened or closed. Service requests dropped 29% to 728, led by 71 calls about tree trimming (a category the city no longer accepts). Garbage cart maintenance and abandoned vehicle complaints rounded out the top concerns. Crime declined across the board: total incidents down 11% to 424, violent offenses down 17% to 154. Food inspections flagged five critical violations, same as October.
