Beverly's violent crime jumps 67% as permits slide
Beverly logged 25 violent crimes in June, up from 15 the month before—a 67% jump. Overall crime rose too, hitting 93 incidents. On the permitting side, things cooled: 23 permits totaling $980k, down 35% in value from May's $1.5 million. Most were express permits (17 of 23). Service requests dropped 27%, with tree debris cleanup leading the list at 131 calls. No new businesses opened or closed. One food spot failed an inspection, down from two in May.
