Beverly violent crime jumps 77% in June
Violent crime in Beverly nearly doubled in June — 23 incidents, up from 13 the month before. Overall crime rose a more modest 6%. Permits dropped to 23 from 41, with construction value falling by half to $668k. Eighteen of those permits were express-track jobs. On the business side, 17 new licenses came through, including Cork And Kerry (tavern), The Chocolate Ember, and Nicky's Grill & Yogurt Oasis. Service requests fell 21%, though tree-related calls still dominated: 97 debris cleanups, 71 removal inspections, 59 emergencies.
