Crime falls 46% as potholes top 311
Belmont Cragin logged 199 crimes in April, down from 371 in March. Violent offenses dropped from 106 to 72. Pothole complaints led the 311 list with 292 requests, followed by 195 abandoned vehicle reports. Permit value cratered from $9.2 million to $662k. Most of the month's 30 permits came through the express program. Nineteen new businesses opened, including ARIES BEAUTY SALON, EPI'S CLASSIC BARBERSHOP, a SKECHERS store, and STEREO NIGHT CLUB, which picked up a tavern license.
