Crime drops by half as permit value hits $1.9M
Avondale's crime count fell from 198 to 99 in April, a 50% drop. Violent incidents went from 33 to 16. Permit activity climbed to $1.9 million, up 44% from March, with 15 express permits leading the way. New business licenses dropped sharply—13 this month versus 30 last month—but arrivals included Victoria's Hair Salon, Pal's Place pet care, and Quality Time, a new spot with a consumption license. Food inspection failures tripled from 2 to 6. Service requests ticked up slightly, led by 254 graffiti removal calls.
