Avondale 311 calls jump 17%, graffiti leads
Avondale logged 1,255 service requests in May, up 17% from April. Graffiti removal requests topped the list at 224, followed by 137 pothole complaints and 73 each for rodent baiting and garbage cart issues. Building permits climbed to 36 from 23, though their total value fell 25% to $2.9 million. Seventeen permits came through the express program. Crime ticked up 9% to 171 incidents, with violent offenses rising slightly to 44. No new businesses opened or closed. Food inspection failures dropped from four to two.
