Avondale crime reports jump 37% in July
Avondale saw 225 reported crimes in July, up from 164 the month before—a 37% jump. Violent offenses actually dropped a bit, from 47 to 43. On the 311 front, graffiti removal requests led at 201, with tree debris cleanup second at 143. Permit activity slipped: 31 permits worth $2.2 million, down from 33 permits and $2.7 million in June. Express permits accounted for 21 of the 31. No new businesses opened or closed, and no restaurants failed inspections after four did in June.
