Austin issues 75 permits, 48 through express program
Austin saw permit activity jump 36% in January—75 permits versus 55 the prior month—though total dollar value held roughly flat at $3.6 million. Nearly two-thirds of the permits came through the city's express program, which handles smaller routine work. Fourteen permits went to renovations or alterations, five to signs, and four to new construction. No new business licenses or closures were recorded for the month.
