West Lawn permit value jumps to $4.4 million
West Lawn logged $4.4 million in permitted work in January, up from $151,000 the month before. The neighborhood issued 21 permits, double December's count, with 17 coming through the express permit program. Two sign permits and two renovation permits rounded out the activity. No new business licenses were recorded, and the month was otherwise quiet.

West Lawn permit value jumps to $2.3 million
Fifteen permits in West Lawn totaled $2.26 million in January, up nearly 1,500% from December's $142,000. Eleven of those were express permits. New businesses included West Lawn One Stop Mart, a retail food spot, and La Haciendita Taqueria, which picked up licenses for on-premise consumption and an outdoor patio. Sams Furniture & Mattress Outlet and Midway Beauty by Luis also opened. Residents filed 586 service requests, led by 83 pothole complaints and 62 abandoned vehicle reports. Seventy-six crimes were logged, 20 of them violent.
