West Englewood permit count drops a third
West Englewood issued 29 permits in September, down from 44 the month before. Permit value fell 26% to just under $793,000. Nineteen of those permits came through the city's express program. Service requests dropped even more sharply—1,144 calls, down a quarter from August. Garbage cart maintenance led the list with 107 requests, followed by tree debris cleanup and abandoned vehicle complaints. Crime ticked down slightly, with 415 incidents reported compared to 435 in August. Six food establishments failed inspections, three fewer than the prior month. No new businesses opened and none closed on record.

West Englewood permit value drops 56% despite more filings
West Englewood pulled 39 permits in September, up from 30 the month before, but total value fell 56% to $849k. Most of the action was express permits (22 filings), with a handful of renovations and demo jobs. Residents filed 1,310 service requests, down a third from August. Garbage cart maintenance led the way with 116 calls, followed by rodent complaints (78) and tree debris (77). Violent crime ticked down 12%, from 151 incidents to 133. No new businesses opened or closed.
