Uptown permit value jumps 37% to $6.1 million
Uptown logged $6.1 million in permit value this August, up 37% from July's $4.4 million. Permit count held nearly flat—36 versus 35—but the dollar figure rose sharply. Most of that came through express permits (21 of the 36), with another six for renovations or alterations. Two demolition permits, two new-construction permits, and three sign permits rounded out the month. No new business licenses, no closures, and the rest of the dashboard stayed quiet.

Uptown pulls 44 permits in August, value down 47%
Uptown pulled 44 permits in August, up from 29 the month before, but the total dollar value fell 47% to about $2.1 million. More than half the permits came through the express program. Graffiti removal led service requests with 163 calls, followed by 87 requests for lead test kits. Crime dropped 7%, with violent incidents nearly flat at 134. No new businesses opened. Food inspection failures went from three to zero.
