South Deering issued just six permits in February, all through the express program, down 68% from January's nineteen. Permit value fell from $197k to $52k. Residents filed 53 pothole complaints, the most of any 311 category, as total service requests ticked up 10%. Crime dropped 13%, with violent offenses down 22% to 36. No new businesses opened or closed.

South Deering violent crime triples to 38 cases

South Deering's violent crime count hit 38 in February, up 153% from 15 the month prior. Overall crime rose 69% to 108 incidents. Permit value fell 99%, from $10.9 million to $131k—11 permits pulled, mostly express-program work. Four businesses opened: a Subway, CVS/Pharmacy #11621, Illinois & Michigan Oil, and Open Arms Before & After Care daycare. Service requests climbed 27% to 524, led by 93 tree-trim calls and 58 streetlight complaints. Thirty-eight reports came in about coyote interactions.
