Roseland permit value drops 42% to $507k
Roseland issued 43 permits in July, same as June, but their total value fell 42% to just over half a million dollars. Express permits accounted for 29 of those, with renovation and sign work trailing. Crime ticked up 6%, though violent offenses dropped 10%. Tree debris cleanup led 311 requests at 168, followed by garbage cart repairs and streetlight complaints. Three food establishments failed inspections, up from one the month before. No new businesses registered or closed.

Roseland permit count doubles, but value drops 91%
Roseland issued 74 permits in July, up 155% from June's 29, but their combined value fell from $33.9 million to $2.9 million. Thirty of those permits were for wrecking or demolition. New businesses included Baba's Famous Steak and Lemonade and a children's services facility called Graham Crackers Before & After School Center. Crime rose 14%, with violent incidents up nearly 15% to 179. Residents filed 185 requests for garbage cart maintenance and 165 for tree debris cleanup. Service requests overall ticked up 6%.
