Permit value in North Lawndale fell from $9.4M to $3.5M in July, a 63% drop, even as the neighborhood issued 45 permits (down from 63). Most were express permits — 28 of them — suggesting smaller-scale work. Service requests jumped 23%, led by 123 garbage cart complaints and 114 abandoned vehicle reports. Crime ticked down slightly, with 555 incidents versus 572 the month before. Four food establishments failed inspections after none did in June.
