North Center permit value triples on fewer projects
Permit applications in North Center dropped 28% in June—38 versus 53 the month before—but their total value nearly tripled to $6.4 million, up from $2.2 million. Half the permits went through the express program. Graffiti removal requests led 311 calls with 213, followed by 104 tree debris cleanups. Crime ticked up slightly to 141 incidents, though violent offenses slipped by one to 21. No new business licenses or closures were logged.

Forty-six permits were pulled in June, down slightly from May, but their combined value jumped 88 percent to $9.5 million. Express permits led with 22, followed by eight for renovation work. No new businesses opened or closed. Service requests climbed 7 percent to 1,185, topped by rat complaints (117), graffiti removal (111), and potholes (108). Crime rose 18 percent to 106 incidents, including 23 violent offenses. One food establishment failed inspection.
