Logan Square permit value drops to $12.5M despite busier August
Logan Square issued 84 permits in August, six more than July, but their total value slipped 7% to $12.5 million. Express permits accounted for 45 of the 84—a slim majority. Another 20 covered renovation or alteration work. Five demolition permits and four new construction permits also came through. No new business licenses appeared in the dataset, and both 311 service requests and the other tracked metrics sat at zero for the month.

Logan Square permit value drops by half despite steady volume
Logan Square pulled the same number of permits in August as July—89—but their total value fell by half, from $13.3 million to $6.8 million. Nearly half were express permits, which tend to run cheap. Violent crimes jumped 37 percent, from 71 to 97. The neighborhood logged 547 graffiti removal requests, nearly triple the next category. Food inspection failures ticked up from 10 to 16. Service requests overall dropped six percent.
