Edgewater permit value jumps to $31.2 million
Edgewater's permit value shot up 1,541% in April, hitting $31.2 million compared to $1.9 million the month before. The neighborhood pulled 57 permits total, up from 36. Most of that work came through the express permit program—35 permits—with another 12 for renovations or alterations. Three new construction permits also came through. Edgewater logged $11.6 million in permit value this April, up 22.5% from March, though the number of permits fell to 40. Express permits accounted for 29 of those. Seventeen new businesses opened, including TACO BELL CATINA, CBD Kratom, and Smokes on Clark. Crime dropped 34% to 133 incidents; violent offenses fell 26% to 43.
