Dunning permit value rockets to $9.1 million
Dunning's permit value jumped from $566k in March to $9.1 million in April, a fifteenfold spike. The neighborhood issued 29 permits, just two more than the prior month, but the dollars tell a different story. Twenty-three were filed through the city's express program, with another five tagged as renovation or alteration work. No new businesses opened, none closed. The surge points to at least one large project breaking ground or ramping up this spring.

Dunning permits crater 93%, but crime drops by two-thirds
Permits plummeted in April—11 issued compared to 26 in March, with total value down from $7.4 million to $488k. Nine of those 11 were express permits. New businesses included Cakes and Beyond, a retail food shop, and Skechers. Crime fell sharply: 42 incidents versus 119 the month prior, with violent offenses down from 30 to 12. Service requests ticked up 11%, led by 175 pothole complaints. No businesses closed.
