Beverly permit value jumps to $660k on fewer projects
Beverly pulled 10 permits in January worth $660,000 total, a 254% jump in dollar value despite 23% fewer permits than December. Six were express permits; two covered renovation work. Residents filed 70 requests for the Shared Cost Sidewalk Program, more than any other 311 category. Street lights out drew 46 complaints. Crime dropped 14% to 71 incidents, with violent offenses down slightly to 13. Two food establishments failed inspections. No new businesses opened or closed.

Beverly gets seven new businesses in January
Beverly added seven businesses in January, including Flippin Flavors, a retail food spot, and For Eyes. Osprey Advisory, Clean Slate Development, AcreIQ, and Cabinets Counter Tops Ect picked up regulated business licenses, and a 7-Eleven got a tobacco permit. Permits jumped 64%, from 11 to 18, with 11 of them express permits. Construction value edged up 11.5% to just over $1 million. Residents filed 67 requests through the Shared Cost Sidewalk Program, the top 311 category by a wide margin. Crime logged 38 incidents, eight of them violent.
