Beverly permit value doubles despite fewer projects
Beverly pulled 22 permits in August, down a third from July, but their total value hit $808,367—more than double the prior month. Fifteen were express permits, five for renovation work. Residents filed 725 service requests, down 40 percent, with tree debris cleanup (86 calls) and garbage cart issues (73) leading the list. Crime dropped 21 percent to 93 incidents, violent offenses down slightly to 14. One food establishment failed inspection. No new businesses opened or closed.

Beverly pulled 23 permits worth $807,000 in August, down 24% in value from July despite three more permits issued. Eighteen were express permits. Violent crime fell from 31 incidents to 21, a 32% drop, while overall crime held nearly flat at 95 cases. Residents filed 128 requests for tree debris cleanup—the top 311 category by a wide margin—and another 71 flagged tree emergencies. No new business licenses or closures landed on the books.
