Avondale permit value drops 62% to $2.7M
Permit activity fell sharply in June, with 33 permits issued compared to 56 the month before. Total construction value dropped from $7.2M to $2.7M. Half the permits came through the express program. Crime reports fell 22%, from 211 to 164. Violent crime edged down from 52 to 47 incidents. Graffiti removal led 311 requests with 181 calls, followed by 120 abandoned vehicle complaints. Four food establishments failed inspections, double the prior month's count.

Avondale pulled 21 permits in June, down from 36 the month before. The total value fell harder—$495,000, compared to $2.9 million in May. Most of the work was routine: 15 permits came through the express program, which covers smaller jobs. Three renovation permits and one demolition rounded out the month. No new businesses opened, and the neighborhood logged zero 311 requests.
