Austin permit value jumps to $10.2M on 47 permits
Austin pulled 47 permits in February, down from 75 the month before, but total value nearly tripled to $10.2 million. More than half the permits came through the express program. Eleven permits covered renovations or alterations, three handled demolition, and one was for new construction. No new business licenses appeared in the city's records this month.

Austin logged 57 new business licenses in February—an 84% jump from January—even as building permits fell 27% to 46 and total permit value dropped to just over $2 million. New arrivals included Big "M" Pancake House (a shared kitchen user), Pure Pharma RX, and Fatima Original Hair Braiding & Boutique. Service requests climbed 38% to 2,405, led by 275 tree-trim requests and 252 abandoned vehicle complaints. Crime reports rose 68% to 799 incidents; violent offenses were up 58% to 291. Nine food establishments failed inspections, up from six the month prior.
