Austin permit count up 13% on express applications
Austin pulled 105 permits in August, up 13% from July, but total construction value fell 77% to $4.1 million after a high-dollar project cleared last month. Express permits accounted for 72 of the 105, with another 25 going to renovation work. Five elevator permits also came through. No new business licenses or closures showed up in the data.

Austin permit value climbs to $3.4M on 76 applications
Austin pulled 76 permits in August, down 16% from July, but their total value rose 7% to $3.4 million. More than two-thirds—52 permits—came through the express program, which handles smaller jobs. Ten renovation permits and five sign permits rounded out the rest. No new business licenses appeared in the city's data this month, and no 311 requests were logged.
